Let’s all cheer on BRIGHT Run Honorary Team Captain Laura Fortino, who will be on the ice with Canada’s women’s hockey team at the Olympics this month in South Korea.

This is Laura’s second trip to the Olympics. Her debut was at Sochi 2014, where she assisted on Marie-Philip Poulin’s overtime winning goal, giving its fourth straight gold medal in women’s hockey. She has helped Canada win three straight silver medals at the world championships in 2015, 2016 and 2017. At the 2016 Worlds, she was Canada’s top-scoring defenceman with one goal and two assists.

The 14-hour time difference might make watching the games a bit tricky, but here is the most recent schedule:

Feb. 11 — Canada vs. Olympic Athletes from Russia, 7:10 a.m. ET
Feb. 13 — Canada vs. Finland, 2:40 a.m. ET
Feb. 15 — Canada vs. USA, 10:10 p.m. ET

Medal round

Laura has been a vibrant and popular presence at our event for the past four years. In 2016, she took on an expanded role as our Honorary Team Captain, making appearances at a variety of community events. And she became the captain of her own BRIGHT RUN team, Fortino’s Crazy 8s.

So let’s all wave the maple leaf and support Laura and the rest of Team Canada!
